What should I consider before importing my file with subscribers?
Importing subscribers to Rule consists of a number of simple steps. Below is an overview of the process:
To import subscribers to Rule, go to the 'Subscribers' tab and click on the 'Import' button. Choose your file and then click 'Start import' to continue. Note that only Excel and CSV file formats are supported, and the files must be correctly formatted. Below are additional points to consider when preparing your file:
- Make sure your file is correctly formatted by reviewing its appearance when exported.
- Ensure that the file's columns have clear titles that will match with the relevant fields in Rule. Avoid including unnecessary characters that may complicate the import process.
- It is recommended to create the attributes for custom fields (e.g. first name, zip code, etc.) before importing by using the 'Subscribers' tab and then 'Groups and custom fields'. Learn more about custom fields here.
- Excel columns will automatically match with the custom fields created in Rule. Note that the custom fields for email and mobile number do not need to be created separately, as Rule will automatically read these fields.
- The content of the file should only be on the first sheet of the Excel file.
For a large number of recipients, we recommend importing a file. And for a small number of recipients, you can manually enter the addresses. When importing, you can either create a new tag or add subscribers to an existing one.
If there are any problems with the file import, please contact [email protected] and attach the relevant file.
